Recorded ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France in June 2019, we speak to Professor Jean Williams from the University of Wolverhampton in England, to learn the history of the women’s game.

Women’s games attracted crowds of 53,000-plus before the FA banned it from Association grounds in 1921. We explore the reasons for the ban and look at how the game has galvanised in recent decades.
