Book Launch Talk: London, 17 March 2025

What are you doing on St. Patrick’s Day, Monday, 17 March? I am going to be launching my new book at Dulwich Hamlet’s Champion Hill Stadium with an hour-long talk, Q&A, and book signing. Do please join us.

My third book is called Shades of Green: A Journey into Irish Football, and is part-groundhop, part-history account of discovering Irish football as an outsider.

The event is co-hosted by the Football and War Network at the University of Wolverhampton and independent book vendor Stanchion Books will be there selling copies, which I can sign.

I will be covering:

  • The roots of Association football in Ireland
  • Groundhopping around both Irish League (NIFL) and League of Ireland
  • International football before and after ‘the split’
  • The political history of football in Ireland
  • Irish footballing pioneers abroad
  • Women’s football in Ireland
  • What’s next for the game on the island of Ireland?

Here are the essential details:
