Do you remember Trinidad and Tobago making its first – and so far, only – appearance at the World Cup back in 2006? In this podcast, we speak to Gene De Gourville, whose book Forged From The Love covers the story of the Soca Warriors’ epic qualification campaign and subsequent World Cup adventure.

At the time, Trinidad and Tobago was the smallest nation ever to qualify for the World Cup, until Iceland qualified for Russia 2018.

We discuss the role of veteran striker Dwight Yorke, coach Leo Beenhakker, and other key figures whose experience in European leagues had helped foster a talented generation ready to take on the world.
