Podcast: The Stadiums of Spain

El Estadio Gran Canaria, home of UD Las Palmas [Credit: Matt Rayns]

Our guest is Chris Clements, who set up the website España Estadios to chronicle his favourite football grounds in Spain. Join us as we discuss the merits – and flaws – of the Santiago Bernabéu, Camp Nou, Mestalla, Villamarín and Pizjuan; marvel at the new glam of the Wanda Metropolitano and Nuevo San Mames.

We also look at some of our favourite smaller grounds around the country and ask why – for all that great atmosphere – Spanish stadiums aren’t quite as architecturally attractive as, say, the stadiums in Italy.

If you like football stadium architecture, be sure to check out our post on pioneering stadium builder Archibald Leitch and our collection of the world’s best Art Deco stadiums.

We release a new podcast every Monday, so be sure to subscribe on your preferred podcast platform. We’re on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, Player.FM and Anchor. Look for us in Google Podcasts too. We’d really appreciate a rating or view if you like what we’re doing as it helps others discover our podcast.
