My guest is Dr Pete Watson, an expert in Latin American politics, history and football. Pete describes the relationship between football and politics in South America during a period of dictatorships (1950s-80s), which also coincided with Brazil’s best years, the controversial 1978 World Cup in Argentina, and brutal regimes in Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay and Colombia.
