I am joined by Chris Etchingham, whose first book Emancipation for Goalposts: Football’s Role in the Fall of Yugoslavia, is fairly self-explanatory. We explore the role of ethnicity in the breakup of the Balkan federal state and tensions that still exist both in the region and among its diaspora. Why is football the arena in which these tensions are played out?
I release a new podcast every two weeks, so be sure to subscribe on your preferred podcast platform. You can find Football Travel by Outside Write on Apple, Spotify, Player.FM and Anchor. Look for it in Google Podcasts too. I’d really appreciate a rating or view if you like what I’m doing as it helps others discover the podcast.
