Podcast: Football and German Society

I am joined by Bess Dawson and – for a third time on the podcast – Alan McDougall to discuss a book they’re both involved in, called Football Nation: The Playing Fields of German Culture, History and Society.

We look at how football has become intrinsic within German society from its awkward arrival in the 1870s through the darkest periods in German history up to the present, multicultural day.

This is the last podcast of 2022. You can find 200+ episodes of Football Travel by Outside Write on AppleSpotifyStitcherPlayer.FM and Anchor. Look for it in Google Podcasts too. I’d really appreciate a rating or view if you like what I’m doing as it helps others discover the podcast.
